George McLeod

Murrayfield Community Council is sad to relay the news of the passing of one of our founder members, George McLeod, who died last month aged 76 after a battle with cancer. George hailed from the Kings Park area of Glasgow, and his career in the engineering industry took him to become managing director of his own road haulage company, then to spells in East Lothian and Durham before spending his last working years driving airport taxis. He was active in Corstorphine Rotary and Murrayfield Church, and at the Community Council successfully championed environmental improvements at Western Corner, representing us on the West Edinburgh Neighbourhood Partnership. A true gentleman, George had a twinkle in his eye that caused problems to melt away, and we extend our sympathies to Pat and their sons Andrew and Graham and their families.
