Bigger and more efficient. Too big for Roseburn Terrace.

The City Council have provided a response to a long-running query about what happened to litter bins on Roseburn Terrace following the completion of the City Centre West-East Link (CCWEL). The old-style small bins (dark marks on the image) are no longer in use by the City Council and have been replaced with new bigger ones (red stars on the image). Other locations in Roseburn Terrace were considered (green stars) but according to the City Council:

Waste does not use the small litter bins that used to be located along the route and now uses bigger ones for capacity and efficiency. They also have new location parameters to ensure the litter bins can be safely serviced and align with Council policies. These requirements ultimately influence where litter bins can physically be located [...] On Roseburn Terrace, no litter bins can be reinstated due to space and serviceability constraints in line with Edinburgh Street Design Guidance and health and safety considerations.

The matter will likely arise at the Community Council meeting of 27 August 2024.
