Reporting things

For non emergencies, use the links below to report issues in the community. An on-going problem is more likely to be addressed if you report it every time:

Commenting on Planning Applications

You can view any City of Edinburgh Planning by starting here.

To comment on an application, you need to register first, here.

Once you have registered, if you go to view planning applications you can also login.

The easiest way to find a planning application is to use 'Search | Planning | Simple Search' and put the reference number (for example: 26/03012/ADV) in the box.

Once you have found the application:

  • The Important Dates section shows by when you must comment.

  • The Documents section shows the application details.

  • The Comments section allows you to 'Make a Comment' (if you are logged in):

    • Select what kind of person you are (e.g. "Neighbour - Residential")

    • Take care choose 'Object', 'Support' or 'Neutral'.

    • It is easier to type your comment elsewhere and cut and paste it into the comment box. But do not expect formatting like bold to be preserved.
