Living Streets Edinburgh has highlighted the inconvenience and danger of travelling on foot between Roseburn (or the Murrayfield tram stop) and Gorgie (or the Murrayfield branch of Sainsburys). As one of their correspondents says:
"The only pedestrian crossing is along at Wickes, way off the desire line, and the footway on the south side of Westfield Road simply ends as it passes underneath the railway bridge. It then resumes as a muddy grass verge. ie complete inaccessible to wheelers. Furthermore, on match days, both sides of the street are lined with supporters buses making crossing the road dangerous. The speed limit remains 30mph."
City Councillor Chas Booth raised an amendment at the Transport and Environment Committee (PDF page 10) with a view to a site visit with officials to discuss the situation.
